The CEO of UniCredit Bulbank Levon Hampartzoumian at Webit Digital Summit: Mobile services will stir the development of the banking sector

Investments are needed in order to cover the deficit of qualified experts for the IT industry.

Banks offering mobile services have a great potential for future development. This is what the CEO of UniCredit Bulbank said at the opening of the conference dedicated to digital business, Webit Digital Summit Bulgaria. He further forecast that the growth of users of mobile banking services will happen faster than expected.

The mobile banking of UniCredit Bulbank - Bulbank Mobile, which was introduced at the end of 2011, already has 19,000 customers. It is available for all mobile operators and for over 2,000 models of widely used mobile phones with operating systems iOS, Android, Symbian, etc. At the same time, within one year the number of individual customers using online services has increased by 90%. Only in 2012 the users of the bank's online banking service have increased by more than 60%. They are over 230,000, and daily it is used by 70,000 people.

At the opening of the conference, Plamen Rusev, Ambassador and Member of the Honorary Board of Webit Ambassadors, also pointed out that the development of mobile banking in the next 10 years will be essential for the sector.

"In the past six years, the IT industry in Bulgaria has become much stronger and all-encompassing. Undoubtedly, if there is a deficit in this industry, it is a deficit of people“, Levon Hampartzoumian added. He explained that behind each technology there are people who need to have the skills and qualifications to serve it and improve it. "It is exactly in the education of such people that we need to invest", said Hampartzoumian.

Last year, Webit Bulgaria distinguished UniCredit Bulbank with an award for "Best Technological Solution" for its mobile banking.
