Challenges and opportunities for small and medium enterprises in relation to sustainable development
  • On December 2, 2024, UniCredit Bulbank hosted an event at its International Center titled “Challenges and Opportunities for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Relation to Sustainable Development.”

UniCredit Bulbank brought together leading experts, business representatives, and partners to discuss the importance of sustainability and its role in the success of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Among the guests were representatives from the manufacturing and processing industries. Their commitment to sustainability highlighted the significance of the event in identifying solutions and best practices related to ESG standards.

Mr. Krum Alexiev, Head of Corporate Clients at UniCredit Bulbank, presented the bank’s ESG strategy. In his speech, he emphasized the bank’s support for businesses investing in sustainable solutions and modernizing their processes.

A key highlight of the event was the lecture by Associate Professor Dr. Milena Angelova, Secretary General of the Association of Industrial Capital and SME Envoy for Bulgaria. She explored how modern business responsibility and sustainability are becoming key success factors for enterprises in Bulgaria and across Europe.

Biliana Mladenova-Mileva, ESG Strategy Manager, and Kalina Angelova, EU Funds Manager at UniCredit Bulbank, presented the green solutions and tools the bank offers to SMEs, as well as the “Skills for Transition” initiative – a group program aimed at employees of small and medium-sized companies. The program is delivered via a digital platform, in Bulgarian, completely free of charge, in collaboration with Accenture and UniCredit, and is available for one year.

The program also featured a presentation by Ivelina Lambova, Managing Director of SeeNext, and a panel discussion focused on real client success stories. Mr. Nikolay Rashkov, CEO of Eurospeed and member of the European Commission’s expert group on transport, mobility directorate, shared his successful examples of sustainable development with the audience.

The event concluded with informal conversations over a glass of wine, giving participants the opportunity to exchange experiences.
